It has been a lively start to 2019 with recent announcements that 7 IFA firms have sold up in January.
Quilter Private Client Advisors have been particularly busy, acquiring Stockport based Freedom Financial Planning and Stephen Spires Financial Consultants in Reading, bringing on more than £250m in FUM.
The largest deal was in Dorset, with the well-established Coleman Financial Services being purchased by Punter Southall Aspire, bringing on £275m in FUM into their business.
There can be many factors why firms might decide the time is right to sell up. Retiring advisers, change of direction between business owners, perhaps the need for financial stability to allow further growth, succession planning, increasing operating costs (PI cover) and the other financial burdens of regulatory costs, to name a few.
Here at Clever, we have teamed up with several industry experts who can support you regardless of where you are in the journey. The consortium, aptly named Aspire, Acquire, Retire, (AAR) is a colloboration of FS service providers who provide you with direct access of support and advice functions, with the emphasis being on the end result. It could be Business Development, Recruitment, Succession Planning, Professional Indemnity Advice, Corporate Advice and Employment Law, or Specialist Advice from an experienced IFA business broker.
